US President Donald Trump said he was directing the government to stop working with Anthropic and the Pentagon said it would declare the startup a supply chain risk, dealing a major blow to the artificial intelligence lab after a showdown over technological guardrails.
Trump added that there would be a six-month phase-out period for the Defense Department and other agencies that use the company’s products.
If Anthropic doesn’t help with the transition, Trump said he would “use the full power of the presidency to make them comply, with significant civil and criminal consequences…”
