Truecaller, a popular caller ID app, has recently partnered with Microsoft to integrate the tech giant’s new Azure AI Speech ‘Personal Voice’ technology. This partnership will enable users to create a digital version of their voice within the AI Assistant.
Launched in 2022, Truecaller’s AI Assistant incorporates various AI technologies that can automatically handle incoming calls, reply on behalf of the user, display calls on screen, retrieve messages, and even record calls for later use. Raphael Mimoun, the product director and general manager of Truecaller Israel, expressed excitement about the new ‘Personal Voice’ feature, stating that it allows users to make their digital assistant sound just like them when answering calls.
The inclusion of Microsoft’s Personal Voice technology in Truecaller’s AI Assistant means that users can have their callers hear a replicated, authentic version of their voice, adding a personal touch to the interaction. This feature is gradually being rolled out to Truecaller markets worldwide.
In addition to this partnership, Truecaller has also launched its web version for Android users in India. This new web client allows users to link their Truecaller app on their PC or Mac using a QR code. Currently, Indian users can have one active web session at a time, which will automatically close after 30 days of inactivity. The functionality is similar to popular messaging apps like WhatsApp or Telegram.
Truecaller has reported an 8% increase in net sales in India during the first quarter of 2024, with the country accounting for 74.2% of total net sales. The app boasts a daily active user count of 314 million, with 234.4 million users being from India.
Overall, Truecaller’s partnership with Microsoft to introduce the ‘Personal Voice’ feature in its AI Assistant showcases the power of AI in transforming user interactions. With the addition of this technology and the launch of the web version for Android users in India, Truecaller continues to enhance its services and user experience in the ever-evolving tech landscape.
