Clear Skye and Gradient Flow announced the results of their survey of the state of enterprise identity management and security.

The survey polled more than 500 respondents from a variety of industries, 62% of whom worked in information technology (IT). The results shed light on the tools, technologies and practices that define identity at work.

The $13 billion identity management market is central to growth as cloud adoption, artificially intelligent software and cyberattack entry points increase. But despite major advances in recent years, there are some identity practices that have not evolved. For example, email (50%) was cited by all respondents as the most popular option for controlling permissions and permissions. In comparison, respondents from large organizations (55%) and those in IT roles (54%) preferred more sophisticated methods such as IT service management (ITSM) or workforce management platforms.
