Today’s fast-growing cloud computing giants defy gravity


Isaac Newton, the English scientist best known for proclaiming the laws of motion and gravity and inventing the telescope, wrote to a co-worker several centuries ago: “If I have seen further, it has been on the shoulders of giants. He was referring to a metaphor that over time has become a symbol of scientific advance and innovation.

Today I would humbly claim that we stand on the shoulders of cloud computing giants. Many of these massive, fast-growing companies are thriving despite the tech market’s current impotence, using cloud software – largely in camera – to manipulate and analyze incredible amounts of data and fundamentally change the way we live and work to change.

Poised to create billions, perhaps trillions, in global economic value, cloud companies represent a bright spot in an otherwise bleak economic landscape shattered by geopolitical…
