Microsoft MSFT is hitting pause on hiring in parts of its business, quietly slowing things down in its cloud and North American sales teams.
This is not a full hiring freeze, but it does affect some of the company’s core revenue-driving units, including Azure and enterprise sales. The move appears to be tied to a simple goal, keeping costs under control as Microsoft heads toward the end of its fiscal year in June.
And this is not unusual. Microsoft has made similar adjustments in the past around this time, so it fits into a broader pattern rather than signaling anything dramatic.
What’s interesting, though, is what the company is not slowing down. Hiring is still active in areas like engineering and AI, where demand remains strong and the company continues to invest heavily. A large chunk of open roles are still tied to artificial intelligence, making it clear where Microsoft sees its future growth.
