This is the warning you don’t want to pop up on your Google Pixel phone | Digital Trends

Google is working on a new message for Pixel phones to warn users of overheating. Instead of a basic warning, the new message will advise users that their phone needs to cool down and may experience slower performance. The suggestion is to avoid direct sunlight and close battery-consuming apps. During this pre-emergency phase, users will still have limited access to their phones.

Google is also taking proactive measures to manage overheating issues, including throttling performance speed, turning off the 5G network, and providing suggestions for resolution. This approach aims to keep Pixel phones running safely and effectively in high-temperature conditions.

The new message will appear when a device reaches 120.2 degrees Fahrenheit, while an emergency state is triggered at 125.6 degrees Fahrenheit. If the temperature reaches 131 degrees Fahrenheit, a pre-shutdown message will warn users that the phone will turn off in about 30 seconds due to high temperature.

This update will be included in an upcoming release of Battery Health Services, titled “Optimizations for adaptive battery capabilities.” The Google Pixel 8, Google Pixel 8 Pro, and other models are set to receive this update.
