Since then, programmers from different backgrounds – and people with no experience – have used their enthusiasm to create apps and websites. Vibe coding platforms based on AI models such as Claude, Codex and Gemini have gained traction as they provide ordinary people with a toolset to code whatever they want without having to write a single line of script.

Tech giants like Amazon and busy Silicon Valley startups even let their programmers use it. For now it’s doing the bulk of the work, but they say it opens up a whole new world of possibilities. One possibility: It takes her job. But it’s a compromise that some of them are willing to make.
