Many flagship phones already charge very quickly, but it looks like it Xiaomi Mi 12 – or any other upcoming Xiaomi phone – could take that speed to a whole new level.
That’s because the brand shared a video Twitter shows a new charging technology called Xiaomi HyperCharge, which offers 200W wired charging and 120W wireless charging. According to Xiaomi, this is enough to charge a 4,000 mAh battery from zero to 100% in just eight minutes. It can apparently reach 10% in 44 seconds and 50% in three minutes.
If you’re going wireless, you can supposedly get a 10% charge in one minute, a 50% charge in seven minutes, and a 100% charge in 15 minutes. It’s incredibly fast and means you would never really wait for your phone to recharge.

It’s also much faster than current fast charging technology. Xiaomi is already leading the way with the Xiaomi Mi 10 Ultra offers 120W wired charging speeds and the Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra It offers 67W wireless charging, but this new technology is a huge boost for both of them.
So far it is not clear when we will see this technology on phones, but since Xiaomi is teasing it and presenting it as a ready-made function, we may not wait too long. Maybe we’ll see it on the Xiaomi Mi 11T Range (probably landing in September) or on the Xiaomi Mi 12 (probably early 2022).
However, it is worth noting that Xiaomi has not widely adopted its 120W wired charging technology with the Xiaomi Mi 11 Range charging at slower speeds than the Mi 10 Ultra, so many phones may not.
There can be good reasons for this, as super-fast charging isn’t always good for the long-term health of the battery. This is probably one of the reasons Samsung and Apple have not accepted this. As a party trick, it will still impress, and it can also be very useful if you only have a few minutes to charge your phone.
