Where Winds Meet, the Soulslite wuxia-themed multiplayer ARPG, is wildly popular with approximately 190,000 concurrent players on Steam as of this writing. It also features more than a little of everyone’s favorite but ruinous technology, as some of its NPCs appear to be powered by LLM chatbots. That means you can talk to them via written response or through your microphone and just interrupt me if you’ve heard that before.

Admittedly, I’ve yet to see anything as bad as the Darth Vader fiasco in Fortnite. These NPCs are not legendary dead actors, and I have never seen them utter an insult. Still, players have fun inducing hallucinations and ridiculing the game’s canon.
