Days gone Writer and creative director John Garvin says players shouldn’t “complain if a game doesn’t get a sequel if it isn’t supported at launch”.
In an open discussion, Garvin admitted that his views “might upset some people” if gamers love a game but we should “buy it at full price” rather than on sale or through subscription services like PS Plus.
“I have an opinion about something that your audience might be interested in, and it might piss off some of them,” Garvin said in an interview about David Jaffes Youtube channel (Many Thanks, VGC). “If you love a game, buy it at full price. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve seen players say,” Yeah, I got this for sale, I got it through PS Plus, whatever. “
“Don’t complain if a game doesn’t get a sequel if it isn’t supported at launch,” added Garvin. “It’s like God of War made any number of million sales when it launched, and Days Gone didn’t. I just speak personally for myself as a developer – I don’t work for Sony – I don’t know what that is Numbers are.
“I think the increase in engagement for the game isn’t as important as, did you buy the game at full price?” he concluded. “Because if so, it supports the developers directly.”
Days Gone arrives on PC on May 18th next monthwith a number of new platform-specific functions.
The new release date for the PC port of Bend Studio’s epic zombie game was announced in a trailer last week that featured a glimpse of a number of brand new features for the PC version of Days Gone, as well as the new release date.
“The world of Days Gone is much bigger than the sum of its parts,” Leon said on the GamesRadar + Days Gone review. “It’s a random nature that wouldn’t have survived on a smaller scale, but that’s an essential thing. The story can be spotty and the gameplay flawed, but over ten hours it balances out.
