TikTok has restored US services after winter storms hit an Oracle data center – the same infrastructure that Big Red founder Larry Ellison previously claimed was not failing.
The American arm of the social media company says it is operating normally after a significant outage caused by winter storm Fern.
In one Update to XTikTok’s US owners said the bad weather led to a power outage that caused network and storage problems at an Oracle data center site, affecting “tens of thousands of servers” that keep TikTok running in the US.
Although the storm was described as unusually large and violent, we note that Oracle founder and CTO Larry Ellison previously boasted told analysts in 2022 that “our cloud is very secure and extremely reliable” and “does not fail.”
