A US-based NRI couple said they were planning to return to India after both were laid off by their respective companies. While the woman was laid off in October last year, the man was laid off in the recent Oracle layoffs that affected 30,000 people worldwide. The woman searched the Internet for advice on what to expect during this transition period, especially with the 60-day deadline for leaving the United States fast approaching.
“My spouse was recently impacted by the corporate-wide layoffs at Oracle USA. His 60-day grace period begins April 11, 2026. No PERM, no I-140, so he cannot extend his H1B,” the woman explained in a Reddit post.
