After a year of incessant backtracking, flippant self-imposed deadlines, and outright disregard for the Supreme Court, it seems like we finally, maybe even actually, have a TikTok deal.

The tentative agreement between TikTok parent company ByteDance, Chinese officials, the US government and its hand-picked institutional investors had been teased back in September, but just last month, China-based ByteDance launched supposedly deregistered about the agreement, the deadline is January 22nd. On Thursday Semafor reported (and Politico later confirmed), that the schedule was met and the deal “is scheduled to close this week.”
