In today’s column, I continue my ongoing analysis of how AI is regulated for mental health. This is the focus of this occasion. Three different perspectives or beliefs on AI for mental health underlie the new laws covering AI for mental health. I will explain the three approaches to you in detail.

First you get an initial overview with a short warning.

A key viewpoint of policymakers and legislators is that AI for mental health should be very strictly controlled, perhaps even banned entirely. Another viewpoint, at the other end of the spectrum, is that such laws should be extremely permissive. The goal is to let the market openly determine the limits and constraints of AI for mental health.
