A new year brings a new Galaxy S model. Everyone following Samsung’s cell phone releases assumed it would, and Samsung essentially confirmed the news with a teaser video for the upcoming release Galaxy S21 Release.
There’s no actual mention of the Galaxy S21 specifically in Samsung’s 30-second video. However, the video promises that a “new galaxy” will be waiting for you when the 2020 calendar changes to 201. This just happens to be the same phrase Samsung uses for on its site Reservation of your pre-order the next Galaxy device.
To remove any doubt that this is a new Galaxy S model, Samsung’s video includes outlines of various Galaxy S phones over the years, starting with the original. You will then see the phone transform into each subsequent model, ending with the 2020 Galaxy S20 and the promise of a new model.
Based on the Galaxy S21 rumors we’ve heard so far, we don’t expect the new phone to be a radical departure from the Galaxy S20 range. As with these models, the new version is expected to be available in standard Plus and Ultra versions, with the Ultra offering a dynamic refresh rate on its 6.8-inch screen. You also get a 108-megapixel main camera on the S21 Ultra, plus a pair of telephoto lenses and support for the S Pen. The Galaxy S21 and S21 Plus are expected to offer many of the same features aside from a bigger screen and battery in the plus version.
The arrival of a video teasing the Galaxy S21’s release seems to suggest that its reveal is very close. In fact, the most common rumor suggests it Samsung will unveil its new phone on January 14th – Two weeks from today.
With the Galaxy S21’s existence now essentially confirmed by many of its features, there is very little about Samsung’s next phone that we don’t know. If the price of the S21 is in the air, then await some more details in the next few weeks.
