Nothing – the new brand of gadgets from OnePlus co-founder Carl Pei – and all the teasing surrounding the company’s upcoming wireless ear (1) earbuds have revealed excited us. This is especially true now that Nothing has revealed some of the key specs for its earbuds.
According to the company, Ear (1) wireless earbuds are worth $ 99 with active noise cancellation (ANC) offers impressive battery life for budget-friendly buds, offering up to 24 hours of total battery life with ANC enabled and up to 34 hours of battery life without it.
This is the total time a full case charge provides, which charges your earbuds when not in use, much like Apple’s AirPods and many other wireless earbuds. We don’t yet know how long the buds can hold on the go in a single session without these top-ups.
In addition, the charging case has a 570 mAh battery and can be charged wirelessly – a premium feature usually reserved for more expensive earbuds than the expected cost of the Ear (1). And just 10 minutes of charging the case supposedly gives you up to 6 hours of ANC-enabled playback or up to 8 hours without ANC.
Nothing will reveal the full details surrounding the Ear (1) earbuds at an event on July 27th during the week. Pei shared a look at the company Concept 1 earbuds in March, but it is currently unclear how much the finished project will look like the bold look of the preview device.
Official photos of the Ear (1) charging case suggest a similar translucent appeal, though a teaser illustration by May shows a very different stylized silhouette.
Earlier this month, Tom’s Guide Audio Editor James Archer wrote about his excitement via the Nothing Ear (1) buds that promise active noise cancellation at a fraction of the price of $ 249 AirPods Pro. However, it remains to be seen (and heard) if Nothing’s efforts can match the fit, audio quality, and ANC performance of Apple’s premium earbuds.
If you’re also excited about the Nothing Ear (1) – so excited you’re willing to spend the extra cash to own one of the first 100 pairs in existence – you can bid now to get a limited edition model.
Nothing has partnered with clothing retailer StockX to offer the platforms first tech drop. The earbuds will be sold to the top 100 bidders, with each case individually numbered to reflect the bidder’s place on that list. In other words, if you make the highest bid by the end of the auction, you will get a “1/100” case.
The auction runs until today (July 21st) and the highest bid sits at $ 850 from this letter. However, a bid just above $ 200 would still get you one of the 100 pairs. So be sure to take a look at the StockX auction if you want to trade the money in your pocket for a little bit of nothing.
