A song that was streamed millions of times in Sweden has been banned from the country’s music charts because it was created by artificial intelligence (AI).
Titled “I know, You’re Not Mine,” it is currently at the top of Spotify’s playlist of Sweden’s most popular songs. But the supposed singer is a digital creation and the country’s music industry has banned the track from its official chart lists.
It is a folk-pop song that tells a melancholic story of a lost love.
Backed by a finger-picked acoustic guitar melody, Jag vet, du är inte min – I know, you’re not mine – tells a story of nighttime heartbreak, broken promises and dashed hopes.
“Your steps in the night, I hear them walking,” sings the artist named Jacub in a haunting voice.
“We stood in the rain at your gate and ran out and everything happened quickly. Now I know that you are not mine, your promises have turned into nothing.”
