Since then, it has evolved into a full-blown phenomenon that scientists call “slopaganda” — an unholy combination of readily available AI tools and political messaging. “Shitposting,” the posting of intentionally crude, offensive content online to provoke a reaction, has reached the level of “institutional shitposting,” according to Don Caldwell, editor of Know Your Meme. This is trolling as official government communication.
