You may not need to flip these Samsung Galaxy ZFlip 4 as often as before if that rumor of an upgraded exterior display is correct.
Display expert and leaker Ross Young recently tweeted that the Galaxy Z Flip 4 will be blessed with at least a 2-inch outer screen instead of the current 1.9-inch screen Galaxy Z Flip 3. Unfortunately, Young doesn’t give us exact measurements, so we can’t say at this time how big the difference in size will actually be.
The Z Flip 4 will have a larger cover display than the z Flip 3. Starting at 2 inches instead of 1.9…May 2, 2022
The outer display of the current Galaxy Z Flip 3 is not intended to be a fully usable method of controlling your phone as it is on the Galaxy Z Fold 3, but a notification window that can act as a camera viewfinder or give you access to media controls. But even for these limited uses, it’s still a bit small, especially if you want to check what’s on it from afar.
While this sounds like a welcome upgrade, there are changes we’d rather see. Longer battery life is the main one that could be addressed by a rumor larger battery capacity. If Samsung could fix that, add an extra camera on the back, and make the display crease less visible, then the Galaxy Z Flip 4 would be pretty close to a perfect foldable device. However, we haven’t heard any rumors of any changes to those last two things.
What we’ve heard is the Galaxy Z Flip 4 could still use a side fingerprint sensor on the power button, which is a fair thing to stay the same, even though an under-display sensor would more closely resemble a regular Android flagship. The other big rumor is that Samsung could drop the price of the Z Flip 4 from $999 to an even lower price, cementing its status as the cheapest way to fold phone fun.
Samsung should let us all know what’s in store for the new Galaxy Z phones in late summer or fall as we look at the foldable reveals of the last few years. We’ll probably get the bigger one Galaxy Z Fold 4 at the same time as the Z Flip 4, that was Rumor has it that they are getting smaller, lighter and cheaper.
