Thanks to its intelligent new hardware and software, it should be the device that eventually led me into the world of best foldable cell phones, with the Z Fold 3 5G offers me both uncompromising phone and tablet functionality.
And while the Z Fold 3 5G does doing a remarkable job in accomplishing this goal, I was shocked at how much I actually think I prefer that Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3 5G instead of this.
In fact, since the beginning of a test phase, I have almost exclusively decided to wear the latter instead of the former with both the Z Fold 3 5G and the Z Flip 3 5G. And that shocked me.
However, what makes this even more confusing to me is that I was perfectly aware that the Flip 3 5G was coming. Its looks, abilities, and – most importantly – form factor just seem to have ambushed me from a hiding place in sight.
Why did I fall for the Flip 3 5G so badly? The answer, in my opinion, is multiple.
1. First, the Flip 3 5G looks great. The two-tier exterior design with the 1.9-inch cover screen and the lens array separated from the rest of the backplate just looks great, and the fit and build quality of the phone is top notch. It feels bonus in the hand. You can also pack the device in 7 different colors, so that a large selection of surfaces is available.
2. The capabilities of the phone are really impressive. When I was going to use the Z Flip 3 from the Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra, I expected a serious drop in performance, but maybe the battery life aside (which appears slightly weaker), I am seriously impressed by the level of performance. It’s like carrying around a flagship smartphone, but it has a foldable screen and a compact form factor. You get a 120 Hz screen, the fast Snapdragon 888 processor, and plenty of RAM and storage space.
3rd And as for the form factor, I think the main reason I choose the Flip 3 over the Fold 3 is because of its compact, super pocket-friendly design. Because while there is no doubt about the quality and capability of the Fold 3 as a phone and compact tablet, it’s not very pocket-friendly at all. The Flip 3, on the other hand, is super pocket-friendly and easy to take with you – a bit like a small wallet. It’s the compact powerhouse that I find much of the people called. When you unfold it, it offers a large smartphone screen experience, but it can be folded to half that size.
So overall, I think the Flip 3’s ability to give me a top-notch smartphone experience is it, but one that is does So in a super compact, stylish form factor, that’s why it caught my attention.
I’m a huge smartphone enthusiast so it’s fantastic to see a new phone so successfully rock cutting-edge folding screen technology while delivering the looks and internal hardware.
Yes, the Z Flip 3 doesn’t offer a tablet experience like its bigger brother Z Fold 3, but it takes the premium smartphone experience to a new level.
Consider me converted.
