Some who have read my editorials may think that I am an inherently negative person, be it politically, socially or, most importantly, when it comes to technology.
While I don’t want to deny the core of it, I wouldn’t call it negativity – I would call it hope. Hope for more, hope for a better world.
When it comes to technology, my hope comes from generations of involvement on this campus, starting with my grandparents.
My grandfather, known on campus for his Kappa Delta Pi Memorial Scholarship, began the student teaching program at Tech while also serving as the Laboratory Experiences Coordinator in the College of Education.
Known for his long hair and elegant swagger, he cared deeply about education and students. He died in 1979 while employed at Tech.
His wife, my grandmother, started Tech’s daycare program and taught preschool and elementary school classes throughout Putnam County for over three decades. She died a beloved pensioner…
