The patent for landing pages generated by Google AI is limited to shopping and ads

There’s been quite a bit of drama lately surrounding Google’s patent of generating landing pages instead of directing users to websites. While it is true that the patent is about creating landing pages, it is absolutely not true that it covers all pages that are low quality. In fact, the patent only describes a shopping site feature.

Google doesn’t replace websites with landing pages

It is not always clear what patents are about, as they are often broadly worded in order to be applicable to as many use cases as possible. And that’s the case with this patent, which is titled “AI-generated content page tailored to a specific user.” This title does not provide any context for how the invention is intended to be used.

Glenn Gabe recently posted about the patent and reiterated what someone else on LinkedIn said about it.

He tweeted:
