OnePlus joined MediaTek’s Dimensity 5G Open Resource Architecture program, which made it possible to create a custom version of the Dimension 1200 Chipset for the OnePlus North 2. It’s called “Dimensity 1200-AI”, which is supposed to tell you what customization work has been done on the chip.
The augmented AI hardware on the chip is used to enhance the photo experience, enhance the display, and reduce response times while gaming.
AI Photo Enhancement mode recognizes up to 22 different scenarios and applies the best settings for them, including optimal settings for night shots and other low-light shots. The accompanying AI video enhancement mode enables Live HDR during video recording.
The custom chipset specifically supports DOL-HDR (“Digital OverLap”). Such a sensor is nice in use in the OnePlus 9 series. Unlike staggered HDR, DOL-HDR can capture multiple shots at the same time to reduce ghosting.
Smart Ambient Display uses AI for smarter automatic brightness control that takes into account the user’s surroundings as well as the content on the screen. Speaking of content: The Dimensity 1200-AI can upscale standard definition and dynamic range videos to HD (AI Resolution Boost) and HDR (AI Color Boost).
The OnePlus Nord 2 will be available in India through Amazon, you can see the landing page with teasers Here.
While the only officially confirmed specification so far is the 1200 AI chip, the Nord2 is Features leaked Last month. It will have a 6.53 “90 Hz 1080p + AMOLED display, a 4,500 mAh battery with fast charge (Power TBD).
As for the camera department, the phone is said to use the 50 MP Sony IMX766 sensor. However, it is the other sensor from OnePlus 9, the IMX789, that supports DOL-HDR, so take these specs with caution. In any case, the phone should also have an 8 MP ultra-wide-angle camera and a depth sensor on the back, as well as a 32 MP selfie camera.
According to the latest information, the Nord 2 will hit the market on July 22nd. That is also the case with a competition of OnePlus.in ends. Earlier rumors reported from July 9th through the end of September, but with the Amazon landing page and a Twitter teaser campaign, it should be the July 22nd target.
