The next Samsung Unpacked will take place on Wednesday, August 11, 2021, the company has announced, and there is little doubt what exactly is on the agenda. Samsung’s teaser image makes it clear that foldable devices are its big news this time around, with at least two new Galaxy Z-series models expected.
The picture shows a larger device and a smaller clamshell, and that certainly fits the rumors that have surfaced in abundance over the past few months. You have to rely on that Galaxy Z-fold 3 and the Galaxy Z Flip 3.
The former is clearly the successor to the Galaxy Z Fold 2. It will be a 5G device as it is, but it is also expected offer S Pen Pro compatibility. That would be a first for a foldable Galaxy, but it makes perfect sense since Samsung apparently does not expect to launch a new Galaxy Note in 2021.
Samsung wasn’t exactly shy about the new phone. In fact it is gave an insight into the foldable in a recent promotional video, complete with a fresh design of the folio case.
The Galaxy Z Flip 3 may not have been previewed in the video, but it is still believed to be out on August 11th. As the successor to the Galaxy Z Flip 2, the smaller clamshell is expected to continue the theme of a pocket-friendly form factor that opens up into something more similar in size to a Galaxy S-series device.
Samsung had intended 2021 to be the year it would be begin to democratize foldable phoneswhich pushes the hardware down to a more achievable level. It remains to be seen whether this is still on the agenda in view of the current pressure in the semiconductor segment. Previous price leaks suggest you’re still paying a premium for an OLED panel that folds in half when it is one little less painful than previous versions.
It’s not just phones that we expect to see in the next month. It is believed that Samsung will also provide a new smartwatch. the Galaxy Watch 4.
Samsung Unpacked 2021 launches on August 11, 2021 at 10 a.m. ET / 7 a.m. PT. It will be a virtual event that will be broadcast live that morning. But if you don’t even want to wait to see what is being announced, Samsung is the time to stake a seat in line.
Reservations are open today for the new flagship cell phone. Sure, you may not yet know what it is – at least not officially – or how much it will cost, but Samsung says those who reserve early will get a better trade-in deal on their old phone, let alone from 12 months of Samsung Care + at a discounted price.
