Google Meet is updating its platform with a new “adaptive audio” feature aimed at business and educational users. This feature will synchronize audio from multiple devices in a room to eliminate feedback, providing better audio quality during meetings.

Google Meet is a popular video chat app known for its simplicity and high-quality audio and video. It allows easy creation and joining of meetings for users with Google accounts. The app can accommodate up to 500 participants and 100,000 viewers, making it suitable for both small and large groups.

The new “adaptive audio” function in Google Meet will utilize the speakers and microphones of devices in close proximity to each other to eliminate echoes and unwanted audio feedback. This feature is designed to enhance audio quality without requiring users to invest in expensive equipment, making it ideal for small groups looking for a cost-effective solution.

The adaptive audio feature is set to be enabled by default in the app, automatically detecting when devices are close to each other and activating the feature seamlessly. Users can also choose to disable the feature through the app settings if they prefer. The feature is currently rolling out to rapid release domains and is expected to be available to all users, including those on scheduled release domains, by June 5.

However, the adaptive audio feature will only be accessible to Workspace users with specific subscription plans, such as Gemini Enterprise, Gemini Business, Gemini Education, Gemini Education Premium, and the AI Meetings and Messaging add-on. Basic users may not have access to this feature in the near future.

Overall, the introduction of the adaptive audio feature in Google Meet is a significant improvement that could enhance the overall meeting experience for users, particularly in business and educational settings. It demonstrates Google’s commitment to providing innovative solutions to improve virtual communication and collaboration.
