Capcom released a Fianl update on last year’s ransomware attack detailing how the hackers gained access to the network, compromised devices, and stole personal information from thousands of people.

In early November 2020, Ransar Locker Ransomware hit the Japanese game developer and publisher and forced Capcom to shut down parts of their network.

Typically in human-powered ransomware attacks, the threat actor stole sensitive information before encrypting devices on the network.

Ragnar Locker claimed to have stolen 1TB of sensitive data from Capcom and requested a $ 11 million ransom in exchange for not disclosing the information and for offering a decryption tool.

Compromised VPN device

Capcom announced today that the recovery of the internal systems affected by the attack is almost complete and the investigation into the incident is complete.
