The former AWS legend explains what companies need to make AI work

Enterprise AI projects get derailed when companies focus on technology rather than people.

So says Matt Domo, co-founder of AWS’ database division, founder of AI consulting firm FifthVantage and also author of a tome called Everybody Wins.

“The main reason these measures fail is that the company and the leadership and the way work is done and decisions are made are not changing to the new way things are being done,” Domo said in an interview with The Register.

Domo said he has experienced this throughout his career. When AWS was new, he said, people couldn’t understand it. They couldn’t imagine how this cloud technology could work without its own limitations. They only saw things through the lens of their existing operations.
