End of software support for the Galaxy S9 series isn’t too far off, but before it finally happens, you can download the February 2021 security patch.

Selected regions can now see the security patch for February 2021 for the Galaxy S9 and S9 + (via) SamMobile). The patch was already available for the current crop of Samsung flagships, including last year’s S20 range, but it’s still great to see the Korean firm aren’t leaving the S9 range behind.

For those who stick to the older hardware, the patch from February 2021 is recognizable via firmware versions G960FXXSEFUA1 and G965FXXSEFUA1. No more features are added and you’re still running an Android 10 build of One UI 2.5, but at least security issues aren’t an issue on your device.

In the long term, the Galaxy S9 series is unlikely to receive many security patches after the February 2021 update. If you’re looking to upgrade from a device security perspective, it might be worth it …
