The end-user computing community of VMware needs to get ready for the transition to “Omnissa”

VMware, separated by Broadcom, will see changes in its end-user computing products next week, impacting both cloud service providers and customers. Service providers using old VMware Horizon series have two options to continue offering services: purchase licenses for VMware Cloud Foundation and new licenses for Horizon without architectural changes, or purchase VMware vSphere Foundation for VDI licenses and make architectural changes. These options were communicated recently with a tight deadline for decision-making. Exceptions can be requested, but systems managing exceptions will go offline on April 30.

Cloudy Horizon hosts have limited time to make necessary changes before the deadline to continue services. Customers were informed about the sale to KRR affecting access to customer service and training portals. The portals will be restricted or offline from April 30 to May 6 and will return branded as Omnissa, the new name for the end-user products. The name was chosen through a rigorous process involving employees, customers, and partners, with attributes like empowerment, comprehensive capabilities, peace of mind, alignment with company purpose, and easy pronunciation.

An Omnissa website will launch on May 6. The rebranding has been confirmed as a significant change in the ongoing separation of VMware‘s products by Broadcom. Customers and service providers are advised to prepare for the upcoming modifications to avoid disruptions in services and access.
