The Dutch government must support its national cybersecurity industry or risk the economy becoming too dependent on American and Chinese tech companies, the CSR Council on Cybersecurity said.
The government advisory body said the government must act quickly, otherwise the Netherlands would lose sight of internet security and the technological knowledge grown in their own country would disappear abroad.
The Netherlands are largely dependent on companies like Microsoft, Amazon, Google and Oracle for their digital services, and this prevents them from making their own rules on things like espionage and data protection, according to CSR.
The American Big Tech in particular continuously monitors new innovative developments and start-ups that they adopt at an early stage, according to CSR. This is especially true for successful European startups that need large investments.
