The Commonwealth Bank’s pioneering AI technology chief is leaving the company

The Commonwealth Bank has lost its most senior technology executive: Chief Information Officer Gavin Munroe is leaving the country’s largest lender after just over three years leading the use of artificial intelligence and the movement of core systems to the cloud.

CBA chief executive Matt Comyn, who has held the top job for seven-and-a-half years and has at least three more years left, led a stable leadership team for most of his tenure but has suffered a series of departures in recent months as some top executives sought opportunities elsewhere.
