The audio chat app for social networks Clubhouse suffered from further security flaws after it became known that an attacker stole live audio data from the platform. The reveal raises serious privacy concerns for invite-only users, the rating of which has skyrocketed in recent months.

Stanford Internet Observatory (SIO) researchers recently identified a number of security issues affecting the platform, including the transmission of personally identifiable information such as a user’s unique clubhouse ID number and chat room ID in clear text. In response, Clubhouse insisted on putting safeguards in place to ensure that user data cannot be stolen by malicious actors – a promise that may not be worth as much as it was originally thought.
