Hours after the Bondi terror attack, while many Australians slept, a myth was created and laundered using artificial intelligence.
The only bright spot in Sunday’s atrocity against Jewish Australians, which left 15 dead and 29 injured, was the heroic act of bystander Ahmed al-Ahmed, who was filmed fearlessly attacking and disarming one of the suspected shooters.
But in the early hours of Monday morning, an alternative narrative emerged: The story of the Muslim, Syrian-born immigrant who risked his life to subdue the gunman was false.
