The Blackmagic Pocket Cinema 6K G2 camera offers advanced features for under $2,000

Blackmagic Design has just launched a new addition to their pocket cinema camera line, the BMPCC 6K G2, which represents an exciting entry into the cinema camera market. I predicted that the other day Blackmagic would come out with a new Pocket Cinema 6K camera, and I hate to say I told you, but I did. The new BMPCC 6K also has improved autofocus, as predicted, but still probably won’t match Canon, Sony or Nikon. However, it’s much faster and tighter, producing even cleaner images.

You may be wondering how I knew this so quickly. Have I already received a test device? No, I haven’t, but one is on the way. I know this because Blackmagic has updated the focus system for their other BMPCC cameras, the 4K, 6k and 6K Pro via firmware. That To updateyou can find Blackmagic website, is now available for all owners of the aforementioned cameras. I upgraded my 6K and 4K and was blown away by the speed of the autofocus but also the improved image quality. The UI stays mostly the same but looks a little cleaner, and a capture icon has been added to the display screen for faster touch capture.
