Mike Sicilia is certainly not the first major tech boss to return to his roots, nor will he be the last.

During a visit to London as part of Oracle’s AI World Tour, Sicilia, co-chief executive of the $420 billion software giant, told The Times he was having “a lot of fun” getting back into programming and becoming a computer programmer again, something he hasn’t done in years.

His enthusiasm comes from the progress artificial intelligence and specifically generative AI, which allows anyone to tell their computer what to create in plain English. “Stunningly impressive,” is his verdict so far, although he’s quick to add that none of his coding efforts have yet found their way into Oracle’s systems.
