The guest list includes executives from Amazon, the Facebook parent company Meta, IBM and Microsoft as well as the open source software organizations Linux and Apache, according to the White House. Open source software is publicly available code that users can view and modify over the Internet on behalf of collaboration.
Analysts say the latter two nonprofits are critical to addressing the problem as myriad software products from the world’s largest tech companies rely on the open source code.
