CES 2022 is in full swing, and that means we’ll spend the week watching some of the world’s largest PC makers launch a shipload of new laptops, including Acer, Dell, HP, Lenovo, and Samsung.
2022 is turning into an exciting year for computer enthusiasts as both Intel and AMD plan to bring new chips to market that will help laptops achieve new heights in terms of performance and energy efficiency: Intel introduced the first Alder Lake laptop chips (with performance to compete with Apple M1 Max) while AMD has announced its new Ryzen 6000 series mobile CPUs.
These advances will help laptop makers bring thinner, more powerful laptops to market, and at this week’s CES, we’re getting a sneak peek of some of the coming this year. In this article, we introduce the laptops announced at CES 2022 that we are most excited about, and hopefully give you a better idea of what to look forward to in 2022.
Of course, we’ll be constantly updating this list during CES 2022 as new laptops are introduced and we learn more about their capabilities. Stay tuned and check out ours CES 2022 Live Blog for all the news from this year’s show!
Acer Predator Helios 300
the Acer Predator Helios 300 stormed CES 2022 with its potent combination of 12th generation Intel CPUs, up to an Nvidia RTX 3080 GPU and up to 32 GB of RAM. Acer will ship both 17-inch and 15-inch models of this laptop in 2022, and each is configurable with IPS displays with a resolution of up to QHD (2,560 x 1,440 pixels) with a refresh rate of up to 165 Hz .
That means the 2022 Acer Predator Helios 300 will come in a variety of configurations to suit different budgets, and even the cheaper models shouldn’t have any problems playing the latest PC games at respectable frame rates. A fully tricked 2022 Helios 300 should be an absolute beast under a gaming laptop, and we can’t wait to send one in for testing so we can try it out for ourselves.
Acer Predator Triton 500 SE
The Acer Predator Triton 500 SE is an updated version of the Acer Predator Triton 500 We tested it almost two years ago and now it’s configurable with up to a 12th generation Intel Core i9 processor, Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080 Ti laptop GPU, and 32GB of RAM. This is by far one of the most powerful gaming laptops to show off at CES 2022.
We are excited to see what the latest games will look like on the laptop’s 16-inch 16:10 display (2,560 x 1,660 pixels), which can achieve a refresh rate of 240 Hz with a response time of just 3 ms. Additionally, the laptop has a triple fan system to keep things cool, and Acer’s Vortex Flow technology should help redirect the airflow generated by these fans towards critical components. Strategically placed thermal foam, liquid metal thermal paste on the CPU, and four heat pipes also improve cooling, and we can’t wait to get one ourselves so we can see how cool it stays under pressure.
Alienware m17 R5 Ryzen Edition
The Alienware m17 R5 Ryzen insists on delivering raw power. It is clear that Alienware gave it their all with this 17-inch gaming machine, and the fact that they put it with the latest AMD CPUs and either an AMD Radeon RX 6000 series or an Nvidia GeForce RTX 30 series GPU can configure, makes this one of the most powerful gaming laptops presented at CES 2022 so far.
In our Alienware m17 R5 Ryzen Edition at your fingertips We were particularly impressed with the eye-catching design and large 17.3-inch screen of the m17 R5, although weighing over 7 pounds it looks like a gaming laptop that is best placed firmly on a desk.
Alienware x14
While the Alienware m17 R5 Ryzen Edition is all about performance and performance, the Alienware x14, being the thinnest Alienware ever, focuses on portability. Sure, a starting price of $ 1,799 still stands out, but it’s not very expensive for a 14-inch gaming laptop.
Given its sleek design, crisp 14-inch display, Intel CPUs 12th in ours Alienware x14 hands-on test We were impressed with its sleek design and vivid screen, although we’ll have to wait until after CES 2022 for one for testing and an in-depth review.
HP Elite Dragonfly G3
the HP Elite Dragonfly G3 It looks like it might be the perfect laptop for those looking to be more productive in the brave new hybrid work environment we now live in. With the latest Intel CPUs the 12th and its 13.5-inch Full HD display (1920 x 1080) with an aspect ratio of 3: 2 should be more than good enough to get you through reading emails and clearing out spreadsheets. Those who like it nicer can upgrade the Dragonfly G3 to an OLED touchscreen display for better image quality.
Other great features include Dynamic Voice Leveling, which optimizes speech intelligibility, AI-based background noise cancellation, auto-frame face tracking that keeps you in the picture, and AI-controlled power management. For these reasons and more, the HP Elite Dragonfly G3 may be the ultimate hybrid work laptop that we’d like to try out for ourselves.
Lenovo ThinkPad Z13
the Lenovo ThinkPad Z13 is one of the first laptops in Lenovo’s new Z-series of ThinkPads and has a chic redesign that gives it a bold new look. The bezels around the 13.3-inch screen have been made thinner (Lenovo claims the Z13 has a screen-to-body ratio of 91.6%) to support the display, and it should look pretty good, when you’re ready to jump to OLED for the upgrade. There’s also a new communication bar embedded in the center of the top bezel that protrudes above the top of the laptop that houses the IR webcam and gives the Z13 a quirky style.
The most noticeable aspect of the Z13’s design, however, is its optional black vegan leather interior, which Lenovo combines with a bronze chassis hue. It’s a real love-it-or-hate-it feature, and we look forward to testing one out in detail.
Oh, and with the latest AMD Ryzen 7 PRO U-Series CPUs, the Z13 should have enough power for almost any business case. And if you want more performance, Lenovo has also introduced a larger 16-inch ThinkPad Z16 that can be configured with more powerful AMD CPUs and an optional discrete Radeon GPU for gaming. Unfortunately, the Z16 is not (yet) available with a leather interior.
Razer Blade 15 (2022)
the new Razer Blade 15 features an RTX 3080 Ti GPU and 4K display, which makes for a pretty solid update for this sturdy gaming laptop. With Intel CPUs of the 12th
While the 2022 model doesn’t come with any standout new features, this is still a pretty exciting laptop to see at CES. We’re fans of the Razer Blade 15 because it offers impressive gaming performance in a remarkably thin chassis (though you’ll pay for the privilege), and the 2022 Blade 15 looks like it’s the best model yet.
