From classrooms and living rooms to boardrooms and factories, AI continues to be used to automate tasks quickly and efficiently, freeing up valuable time and resources. Its near-universal appeal as a personal assistant has seen the industry reach truly dizzying valuations in recent years.

In 2020, Berkshire Hathaway’s Businesswire estimated that the global market for AI was approximately $46.9 billion. Five years later, a study by Fortune Business Insights estimates that the global AI market is worth more than $294 billion – a staggering 527% increase in value.

The world’s top 10 technology companies are expected to spend more than $1 trillion on data centers by 2028, according to a report compiled by NASDAQ and Dell’Oro Group. Meanwhile, Goldman Sachs predicts a 160% increase in global data center electricity demand by 2030, increasing the share of data centers in total global electricity consumption from 1-2% today to 3-4% by the end of this decade.
