The Academy rules that AI performances are not eligible for Oscars

The academy won’t be handing over the golden statuette to robots any time soon.

In new rules announced May 1, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has ruled that AI performances will not be considered for an Oscar. Filmmakers can still use AI tools in their submitted work, but only human actors and human-written screenplays will be considered for the panel’s top honors.
