Teresa Carlson, vice president of global public sector and industry for Amazon Web Services and a Wash100 2020 award winner, said the challenges of adopting clouds in industry and government similarly include issues with data and operational standards.
Carlson said in an interview published Monday with Computer Weekly that AWS is working with policymakers and highly regulated industries to set standards for cloud implementation and identify potential areas of innovation for the emerging technology.
She noted that the COVID-19 pandemic has sparked a lot of customer innovations powered by data and cloud technologies, and that trend will not slow down over the next year.
Artificial intelligence and machine learning also played a crucial role in the pandemic, according to Carlson, as companies shared data from common operating models.
