More than 200 jobs are expected to be cut at Telstra as the telco rolls out AI capabilities and relocates some jobs to India.
Telstra and technology consultancy Accenture announced a $700 million joint venture (JV) in 2025 to drive efficiency, modernization and productivity.
A JV spokesperson confirmed on Tuesday that the team had been informed of “proposed changes to its workforce, including reducing positions where work is no longer required and shifting some work to the JV team in India.”
If the changes go ahead, the spokesperson said, affected team members would be supported to find new jobs at either Telstra or Accenture or have “access to our leading career transition program and redundancy benefits”.

“These changes would see the JV leverage Accenture’s global capabilities, advanced AI expertise and specialist hub in India to accelerate Telstra’s data and AI roadmap.
