Telefónica’s digital business unit, Telefónica Tech, and cybersecurity company Fortinet today announced a new global managed software-defined wide area networking (SD-WAN) service aimed at the home office sector.

Companies say the hybrid and cloud-centric work model adopted in response to the Covid-19 pandemic is the new normal.

Fortinet’s new service, flexWAN, will first be launched in Spain and will soon be expanded to include Telefónica’s entire presence in Europe and America.

The service combines network and security into an integrated offer for company employees who connect to their workplaces from their offices or other locations. The service combines the capabilities of Fortinet Secure SD-WAN with the managed security and cloud services from Telefónica Tech.

The service will also enable the expansion of the Secure Access Service Edge (SASE) technology to Telefónica customers.
