Telefónica Tech and IBM have formed a collaboration agreement to enhance Artificial Intelligence (AI), data analysis, and data governance solutions for companies in Spain. The goal is to help clients navigate the complexities of new technologies and leverage them in their business processes effectively. The partnership will focus on developing an open multi-cloud platform for data management and AI, along with resources, training, and certifications to support client initiatives. This collaboration builds on the companies’ shared commitment to advancing digital transformation through cutting-edge technologies.

Elena Gil Lizasoain, director of Artificial Intelligence and Data at Telefónica Tech, highlighted the benefits of combining AI and data management in business operations. With the collaboration, the teams aim to create more efficient and sustainable businesses through the development of use cases tailored to client needs. Adolfo Hernández Pulido, General Director of Technology at Telefónica, emphasized the importance of analytics, data governance, and AI implementation for business success in today’s competitive landscape.

Telefónica Tech and IBM will establish a use case office to accelerate business development through co-creation and innovation. This office will focus on defining and developing proofs of concept and MVPs to showcase the value of AI technologies for clients. The collaboration has already delivered AI solutions, including code generation for IT applications, process automation, cognitive assistants for industrial operations, and more.

The partnership will introduce SHARK.X, a new platform that integrates IBM hardware and software components to facilitate end-to-end AI implementation. This platform, hosted at Telefónica Tech’s La Cabina facilities, will offer specialized professional services for deployment architecture, data integration, AI use case development, data governance, and compliance with regulations. SHARK.X will encompass IBM Cloud Pak for Data, Watsonx AI and Data platform, Cognos, and Planning Analytics to support data management, analytics, and AI applications for clients.
