– The mobile marketplace OfferUp has hired former Splunk VP of Engineering Melissa Binde as its new CTO.

Previously, Binder held senior engineering roles at Google, Nordstrom, and Persistent Systems. She was also a software developer at Amazon shortly after it went public. She led Splunk’s cloud engineering business while she was CTO at the software giant.

“Adding a seasoned technology leader like Melissa to our growing team at OfferUp is exactly what we need to take our business to the next level,” said Todd Dunlap, CEO of OfferUp.

Binde succeeds Ameesh Paleja, who was CTO of OfferUp for two years. Today he is the VP of Engineering at Google.

Dunlap was named CEO of the Bellevue, Washington-based startup in June. Last year, the company reached 56 million users after taking over the competing marketplace Letgo.
