Tech giant Oracle signs a 15-year lease in Harwood

HARWOOD, N.D. – Oracle will lease the new data center being built in Harwood.

The agreement is valued at $2.15 billion and has a term of 15 years, with possible extensions of up to 25 years. Applied Digital retains control of the building, while Oracle has influence over IT staff and hardware.

Applied Digital has been working on building the data center since September. Oracle told WDAY News that it goes through a rigorous evaluation process before leasing locations worldwide.

Applied Digital said the lease secures all financing to complete construction and could open the door to additional opportunities in North Dakota.

“We love working there. We bring all of this data center activity and all the economic benefits that come with it to the state and we expect to continue to do more in the state of North Dakota,” said Wes Cummins, CEO of Applied Digital.
