Tata Communications and Cisco have announced the launch of Webex Calling with the cloud public switched telephone network (PSTN) for businesses operating in India. This service, known as Webex Calling by Tata Communications, is a collaboration between Cisco’s Webex Calling and Tata Communications’ GlobalRapide platform. Webex Calling is a global business phone system that offers enterprise-grade calling capabilities through a cloud platform, with over 14 million users worldwide. This partnership aims to provide businesses in India with enhanced connectivity and collaboration tools, allowing them to scale their communications infrastructure without upfront investments in server hardware.

The integration of Cisco’s Webex Calling with Tata Communications’ platform will offer additional collaboration features, including meetings, messaging, webinars, AI-powered innovations such as audio intelligence, and a range of devices. The solution will also support rich customer experiences, such as multi-line and virtual line support, attendant consoles, and analytics. Additionally, a new series of 9,800 series phones will be introduced, along with support for third-party devices. The AI capabilities of Webex Calling will enhance HD voice and provide AI call summaries to users.

According to Daisy Chittilapilly, President of Cisco India and SAARC, the increasing trend of hybrid working necessitates seamless collaboration experiences for businesses. Webex Calling from Tata Communications aims to simplify enterprises’ transition to the cloud with flexible migration options, reliability, and AI-powered collaboration tools. Arijit Bonnerjee, senior vice president and head of Tata Communications in India, highlighted the dedicated capacity hosted in India for both domestic enterprises and global multinationals.

Tata Communications’ GlobalRapide platform serves over 500,000 global users and manages 262,000 conferencing licenses. In the cloud voice space, Tata Communications handles 12 billion voice minutes annually and maintains 1,600 service provider relationships. The company’s clientele includes 300 of the Fortune 500 companies and connects businesses with 80% of the world’s top cloud providers.
