Target released a new escalation to the PS5 this morning, prompting the retailer to be trending on Twitter. And in line with the trend, many Playstation Fans could – finally – buy the console. At the time of publication, inventory appears to have run out, but not until many customers have been able to place an order for the elusive console, which was just as difficult, if not harder to find in 2021 than it was in 2020.
This morning, before many were up, Target released not only the new inventory of the standard PS5, but also the all-digital PS5, which was far more difficult to find. Not only does the $ 400 price tag increase demand, but Sony has made far fewer all-digital models, likely because the cheaper PS5 costs far more to make.
While Sony is likely to lose with every fully digital model sold, many PlayStation customers have won today. When a retailer is trending due to PS5 backlog, the trend is usually filled with negative tweets from frustrated PlayStation customers. However, many, if not the majority, of the trending tweets are actually positive and come from those who share their success stories. Of course, this could be a misleading observation, but it could also suggest that demand for the console is finally stalling as it’s not like there is more inventory than before. Production problems continue to limit inventory.
What a morning
