Macquarie Park is one of the Sydney neighborhoods that could be more vulnerable to AI changes.
These are the areas of Sydney that are at risk of becoming the AI ”rust belt” – suburbs where many residents could move away and where property prices are falling as job automation takes hold of the workforce.
An alarming new study has found that several Sydney neighborhoods have a high concentration of workers in positions that could be automated by AI processes in just a few years, leading to job losses.
These were areas where the majority of residents worked in white-collar sectors that were more exposed to AI, including finance, insurance, telecommunications and professional services.
According to the study by research group SuburbTrends, Sydney as a whole is expected to be the most affected by AI-driven changes in the workforce, along with Melbourne.
This was because more and more workers were relying on office jobs to pay off expensive mortgages.
Many jobs will be replaced by AI technologies…
