The Swiss authorities on Monday confirmed a police raid on a Swiss hacker who was responsible for breaking into the online networks of a US surveillance camera company. This was part of what the hacker called an attempt to raise awareness of the dangers of mass surveillance.
The Federal Office of Justice announced that the regional police in the center of Lucerne carried out a house search with a group of activist hackers under the name Tillie Kottmann at the request of the US authorities.
The hacker said that electronic equipment was confiscated during the raid. The Swiss bureau declined to reveal the location or comment and referred all questions to “the appropriate US authority”.
