GENEVA (AP) – The Swiss authorities on Monday confirmed a police raid on a Swiss software engineer responsible for breaking into the online networks of a US surveillance camera company aware of the dangers of mass surveillance.

The Federal Office of Justice announced that the regional police in the center of Lucerne carried out a house search on Friday at the request of the US authorities with the participation of the hacker Tillie Kottmann.

The hacker said online that electronic equipment was confiscated during the raid. The Swiss bureau declined to reveal the location or comment and referred all questions to “the appropriate US authority”.


The FBI said in a statement on Friday that it was “informed about the law enforcement activities carried out in Switzerland” but received no further comment.
